Does My Child Need to Be Catholic to Attend St. Cecelia?

Does my child need to be Catholic to attend St. Cecelia? Our faculty and staff get this question all the time. It’s a perfectly valid question, as we are a private Catholic school founded in 1948 and one of several supported by the Diocese of St. Petersburg. Today’s blog from St. Cecelia Catholic School answers this question.

Nondiscriminatory

The Diocese of St. Petersburg allows no person to be discriminated against or denied admission based on race, color, or ethnic origin if space is available in St. Cecelia Catholic School. If your child meets our admissions requirements, he or she is welcome to learn here until graduating from the 8th grade.

Open Admission

St. Cecelia Catholic School has an open admissions policy. We begin the open admissions period with our open house in early November. We have open houses in January and March, as well. These events are open to the public, and we invite you to attend. Tours happen throughout the day during these special events where you can meet administrators, faculty, staff, and students while touring our school. Feel free to schedule a tour for any weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. when school is in session if you can’t make one of our open house dates.

Apply for Admission

After taking a tour, St. Cecelia Catholic School invites you to submit an online application form for your child. Fill out the form as thoroughly as possible, including requests for records to be sent to your child’s current school (if he or she attends school). The next step in the application process includes an interview with our admissions director and admissions testing for your child.

Invitation

After we review your application and child’s test results, we will notify you of your child’s admission status. If accepted, we will discuss tuition payments, scholarships and financial aid, and when your child will start at St. Cecelia Catholic School.
