Catholic School Celebration Gets National Recognition

connecting to catholic schools around the world

At St. Cecelia Interparochial Catholic School, we love sharing our passion for our students and for our school with the larger communities. An aspect that is unique to Catholic schools is our celebration of Catholic Schools Week. We love getting the opportunity to celebrate our Catholic education and faith and getting to see the excitement and joy on our students’ faces during the yearly celebration. Recently, a few of our teachers started an initiative to spread that passion and excitement outside of the school campus. In today’s St. Cecelia Interparochial Catholic School blog, we take a look at how Erin Galley and her team organized the 3rd annual Catholic Schools Week Collaboration and Kahoot.

What is Catholic Schools Week?

For those who are new to Catholic school traditions – or for those who need a bit of a refresher – Catholic Schools Week is an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. The celebration starts on the last Sunday of January and continues for seven days. Most schools have a variety of activities, open houses, and Masses that are open to students, teachers, families, parishioners, and members of the surrounding communities.

What is the CSW Collaboration and Kahoot?

Erin Galley and several other St. Cecelia teachers always enjoyed the activities and the sense of community that came from celebrating Catholic Schools Week. However, a few years ago, they began to wonder what it would look like to be able to have our students share their faith outside of the classroom. Being a Catholic school is being part of a worldwide community of believers and educators, and it would be amazing to be able to connect with others on a grander scale. That’s when the idea for the Collaboration and Kahoot was born! Through amazing advancements in connected technologies, students at St. Cecelia were able to participate in celebrations with students across the country.

Help Us Keep Growing!

Erin and her team’s passion to expand the reach of the Collaboration and Kahoot continues year after year. An article written by Erin was recently published on the NCEA Talk website, sharing the passion of the event with thousands of readers. If you would like to get involved with future Catholic Schools Week activities and celebrations, we would love to have your help and involvement. But one of the best ways you can help is by sharing the story of the Collaboration with friends and church members to spread the word about the amazing things St. Cecelia Interparochial Catholic School is doing!
