International Baccalaureate World School

International Baccalaureate Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP)

St. Cecelia School (SCS) was authorized as an IB World School in December 2014. As a Catholic school community, the International Baccalaureate programme is a perfect fit. IB World Schools commit to an educational philosophy aimed at developing inquiring, knowledgeable, and compassionate young people who understand the responsibility of caring for others and the world around them.

International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP)

In 2019 SCS became authorized as a Primary Year Programme (PYP) by the International Baccalaureate organization.  The PYP programme will provide students age 3-12 with the PYP comprehensive approach to teaching and learning. The PYP focuses on the development of the whole child. Through five essential elements of knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes, and action, the PYP framework prepares students to become active, caring, lifelong learners.
